Botswana and beyond

While our core itineraries focus on Botswana, we also design tailor-made birding safaris across Southern Africa to suit your interests and target lists. These trips are flexible and can be arranged around specific endemics, near-endemics, and regional specialties that birders dream of seeing.

Examples of regional highlights include:

South Africa
The Cape endemics such as Cape Rockjumper, Orange-breasted Sunbird, Cape Sugarbird, Blue Crane, and Knysna Turaco. The grasslands and escarpments add species like Drakensberg Rockjumper and Ground Woodpecker amongst others.

Namibia

Desert specialists such as Herero Chat, Dune Lark (Namibia’s only true endemic), Rockrunner, Rüppell’s Korhaan, and flocks of Damara Terns along the Skeleton Coast.

Zimbabwe
Miombo woodland species including Miombo Rock Thrush, Boulder Chat, Whyte’s Barbet, and Cinnamon-breasted Tit. Matobo Hills and Hwange offer superb birding with big game.

Zambia
The famous Shoebill Stork in Bangweulu Swamps, along with Southern carmine Bee-eater, African Finfoot, Black-cheeked Lovebird (near-endemic), and miombo specials across the country.

Mozambique
Coastal forests and wetlands with rarities such as Green-headed Oriole, Olive-headed Weaver, East Coast Akalat, Chirinda Apalis, and Böhm’s Spinetail.

Each journey is fully customizable, whether you want a 1-week endemic-focused trip in Namibia, a 2-week shoebill and miombo combo in Zambia and Zimbabwe, or a month-long Southern Africa expedition chasing the region’s rarest species. We ensure that both birding and general wildlife viewing are balanced, giving you the best of Southern Africa’s biodiversity.
